Here's a plan for one "class" a day. You can start on any day you choose and follow the plan. Have one day a rest day. I would suggest sometime in the middle so you're not feeling like you're studying all the time, however, you can choose the day before beginning a new lesson and theory to learn. If you choose, you don't need a rest day. You can choose to do simple items (like reading) if you choose to do.
This is also a good plan for intermediate or advanced students.
Day 1 Study the new lesson. Review the words, drills, etc. Read the shorthand. In the little brown Anniversary manual, if there's a writing assignment that's in longhand, picture the shorthand in your mind.
Day 2 Write, copy, as much as you can on the new lesson you learned yesterday. Drill (write over and over) on brief forms, phrases, abbreviations, etc.
Day 3 Copy and take dictation from the lesson. For the Functional Method if you're not writing shorthand yet because the manual doesn't have you in the first lessons, continue to read. I think it would be fine for FM beginners to transcribe (type up in longhand) the shorthand from the manual, this is also reading, plus you can make sure you're reading the correct outline and thinking the correct grammar and punctuation.
Day 4 Transcribe your copy you wrote and your dictation. FM just reading: read and/or transcribe the lesson.
Day 5 Finish up day 4. With extra time, study brief forms, phrases, abbreviations. Work on errors and mistakes from your studies (reading, writing, dictation, etc.,). Words you had trouble with reading. Words you may have missed through writing or dictation. Study these out carefully. Reread all you need to be able to read the previous lesson fluently. Study brief forms and phrases of any previous lessons.
Day 6 Reread, rewrite or take dictation on the mistakes you made in the previous lesson. If you need to, reread or rewrite the entire lesson through. If you need to, go over it again. IF you feel you've studied this lesson enough, review past lessons.
Day 7. This is a day to rest, you can also choose to do this anytime during the week. If you need to you can play "catch up" with your "homework". If you want to study you can read the lesson you're on an previous lessons.
If you are doing the Anniversary manual (little brown book) you can expand each day to 2 days so you are writing the current lesson you are on the second week. Or include a Speed Studies book to your studies (was used in classes sometimes).
