This suggestion was in the 1913 Gregg Writer, but it was such poor scanned quality from the internet, that I thought I'd just paraphrase here. I even had a hard time reading it. If you want to practice taking dictation from someone, but you only have actual shorthand writing, there is a way you can still do this.
- Type up the shorthand into longhand. Make sure it's accurate.
- Practice writing from the shorthand book
- Have someone dictate to you from the longhand you typed up
- Type up the shorthand you took from dictation
- Read over your transcription and work on any errors
- Retake if needed
