Plot taken from IMDb: A mild-mannered man's problems with his domineering wife and mother-in-law lead to complications with the law. Cast: William Collier Sr. (a meek husband), Blanche Payson (his wife), Joseph Belmont (his brother-in-law), Alice Davenport (his mother-in-law), Mae Busch (a speedy stenographer). archive.org/details/Wife_and_Auto_Trouble_1916
The man is having an affair with his stenographer or is starting one. Very little shorthand dictation shown. Just a bit at the first. Later in that shot, I can't tell if she's taking shorthand or writing out things by hand as I couldn't see the typewriter, but maybe it's there. I think he gives the female stenographer a car (I went a head a bit),then he gives the car to his wife. The wife thinks he might be having an affair and tries to find him. Cop and car chase. No dialogue, some written on screen.
