Pars 404, 405. The lists of proper names given here cannot be throughly automized in any one drill; they must be fixed by constant use. It is suggested that this material be read rapidly.
Pars 406, 407. The writer composed this material some years ago as a special drill on the disjoined prefixes. Because of the complete and intenseive review of all the disjoined prefixes this letter and article may profitably be used rather frequently as time premits.
Homework Read the assignment Write the assignment Transcribe the assignment (book/and or your notes) Take dictation from any recorded material you have from this or previous assignments. Read the drill at the end of the book.

Looking at the book, the state abbreviations are the longer versions, before the 2 letter state abbreviations came into vogue. You can use either. Sometimes writing in longhang might be eaiser and you can tell it apart from other things.
This depends on what you want to do and how you will use it in the future. I deal with other states and cities, so I use them when writing down voice mail messages. I only deal with a few, but with the changes in the last 5 years, I think I may learn them all one day.
