Practice various materials, such as business, corporate, political and general interest.
You could record various items with no speed, just to practice termonology.
Choose a newspaper online and go through the various sections. Record them.
If you prefer, you can take them immediately to see where you need to record them (atlhough you may all ready know your speaking speed to your shorthand writing speed).
When you see you need practice in one area, work on that more. But continue to keep the variety up.

NAMES.
Practice names. Anytime the letter has an address section, take that fully. You will want to practice various names. You could even insert some names in dictation (when just pracrticing) in letters. Or take drills of names.

Short, easy words or simple phrases do not need to be part of this practice. If it is in a list, you can write it once or twice. The advanced student should have mastered the system fairly well and will know these.
Repeating or relearning the basic words learned in the beginning text book only tends to cause the student to lose interest.
If necessary, go through the beginning textbook and relearn the theory. This is good practice if you find you are taking dictation from a new source and have new words to learn. It will also remind you of easy words or simple phrases that you may encounter in your new dictation situation.
