One or two well-sharpened pencils thrust into the hair of the busy stenographer before the day's work begins may not add to the beauty of her coiffur, but they will add decidedly to her efficiency when it becomes a question of taking rapid, easily and legible notes.
Last night they changed an antenna TV channel and had the TV show Night Court. I use to watch that. There was a clerk of sorts in a few of the episodes and she would have pencils "trust" into her hair. I found a picture. She wasn't the court stenographer, there was another lady who sat and typed up the notes. This one just handed the cases to the judge.
